So what is the Aahara Spiritual Community of Venus Rising?
Co-Founders John Malan and Carley Mattimore
Aahara Spiritual Community, founded in July 2011 in the Heartland of the USA (Springfield, Illinois), is an officially chartered 501(c)(3) congregation of the Venus Rising Association for Transformation.
We offer a unique orientation of connection, community, and spiritual development. Our programs support personal and collective psychospiritual growth through diverse opportunities to heal, grow and expand your consciousness, helping you to live your life with more passion and purpose.
Aahara's mission, as a non-denominational congregation, is to recognize that there is a healer within each of us, waiting to awaken to the knowledge that all are connected to the one source and creator of the universe. We seek to live in harmony with all creatures of the earth and the Earth itself, recognizing that the land and its animals are kin and that food grown on the earth is medicine.
We believe that all our life experiences, including our challenges, wounds, celebrations, and milestones, are part of our journey on earth, and that these experiences lead us through spiritual initiations that can bring us to healing and wholeness. We believe personal challenges are the training ground that prepares each of us for our unique role in the world.
When we connect to our true spiritual nature and inner wisdom, we become a powerful force for enlightened consciousness in the world. We work to support others in their personal healing and the transformation of old, limiting, self- and other-destructive patterns, so that all may live fulfilled, enriched lives, discover our natural abilities and talents, and become the person each of us came here to be.
Our mission is to restore understanding of our mutual interdependence—humans and nature—within the interdependent web of life. We support the regeneration of individuals, land, creatures, communities, and the world, working toward a co-creative relationship with the natural world. We recognize that we are part of the interconnected web of life and that living in right relationship with ourselves, our family, our community, our health, and our spiritual renewal is possible through sustainable practices. Therefore, our focus is on education, collaboration, ministry, and community-based principles that support regenerative practices.

Who We Are
Meet the Co-Founders
Carley Mattimore
Carley is a Shamanic Midwife for our times, holding space for you as you remember who you are and step into your authentic self to share your gifts with the world. She is a Shamanic Minister, Master Shamanic Breathwork Facilitator, and Shamanic psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in working with children, adults, and families, as well as a Therapeutic Energy worker (Healing Touch Practitioner and Shamanic, Usui, and Tibetan Reiki Master.) She is co-author of Sacred Messengers of Shamanic Africa: Land of ZepTepi.
John Malan
John is an explorer, mainly of his inner life, but lately of the world at large as well, as he offers insights through dreamwork, storytelling, and the shared experience of shamanic transformation. He is a Shamanic Minister and Shamanic Breathwork Facilitator. John is a skillful facilitator who meets you where you are and empowers your own exploration in finding your true self. He continues to be of service to his family and community, with an open heart for each soul he meets.
